Our shelter is a lock-down shelter. All doors are locked and alarmed at all times, there is an intercom system at the front door. If someone just shows up at Eva's Place and staff does not know that you are coming prior to your arrival, or your visit is not pre-arranged and authorized, the door will not be opened.
Eva's Place operates with very strict rules regarding safety. Clients of eva's Place are informed of all safety rules at the time they call to request admission to the shelter, again at the time they arrive at the shelter, and periodically while resident of the shelter. Individuals requesting shelter will not be admitted if they are under the influence of alcohol, drugs, are currently under court jurisdiction for an assaultive crime, or any type of criminal sexual conduct crime. Clients in shelter must adhere to a no violence policy, no drugs, no alcohol, and no weapons and uphold the shelter's safety policies. Failure to do so may result in immediate exit.
Individuals that are seeking shelter are encouraged to contact law enforcement for assistance in contacting Eva's Place. It is not mandatory that victims of violence report their assault; however it is strongly encouraged and preferred. The added assistance of law enforcement could help provide safe transport to Eva's Place, details regarding the assault, or assist in seeking criminal charges against the assailant that would also include a no contact or protection order.
If an assailant learns that their victim is at Eva's Place she and her family will immediatley be relocated.
